SUMMARY:Different Face of Serbia - Presented by the Serbian LSE Alumni Society
DESCRIPTION:Week of Serbian Science, Culture and Art at LSE "Different Face of Serbia" - a series of academic, artistic and cultural events which we are presenting at the London School of Economics and Political Science during October 2011 - brings to the attention of academic audience and general public an independent, non-governmental view on contemporary Serbia. It is done through presenting work of several outstanding LSE alumni students and world-class authors of the 21st century Serbia. The idea is to introduce to the world sophisticated, educated and cosmopolitan Serbia, whose image and reputation over the previous two decades were blemished mainly due to inability of its politicians to present it in a dignified way. Read more about "Different Face of Serbia" Programme and Exhibitions on the LSE website and Britic Magazine and download the Invitation and the Programme further down. SUMMARY:Fine Art Escape Summer BBQ Party on 23rd June in Cambridge
DESCRIPTION:Dont Miss Your Chance to Win This Ballerina Paiting by Dusan Rajsic [caption id="" align="alignleft" width="264" caption="Wn This Original Work of Art by Dusan Rajsic"][/caption] We are now organising another arty party at our home in Girton, Cambridge and would like to invite you to join us for BBQ, drinks and good time. And for the luckiest one - there will be a present to take home! To spicy the day up, there will be a prize draw for the Ballerina painting on the left by one of our most popular artists Dusan Rajsic. Dusan's paintings are always very noticed at our exhibitions, but for some of you who dont know his work, Dusan is a sculptor and all layers of paste used on his paintings are done using only his fingers. This painting comes with a transparent glass frame, so the colour of the "mount" will be the colour of your wall - something that makes Rajsic work very unique and special. Everyone enjoyed previous prize draw we organised for the Christmas party last December, especially Monika Wynne-Jones who won Branko Dimitrijevic painting, so we decided to organise a prize draw every time we have a party! Saturday 23rd June 2012 from 5pm until late BBQ from 7pm 102 Wellbrook Way Girton, Cambridge CB3 0GP The BBQ will be organised in our garden, accompanied with sparkling wine and other refreshments. The whole garden will be covered with gazebos, so the weather will not surprise us. The doors will be open to guests from 5pm until late. The prize draw at the end of the day just before midnight! RSVP by email or call 07764335027 or 01223 969995. To see the map and the directions, take a look at our contact page. You will find there more information about other things you can do in Cambridge so you fully enjoy your Escape Day Out. Penmans acquired the Fair from his widow, Heather Gamlin, in 2000. The Petersfield Fair can easily be considered as amongst the most consistently successful Antiques Fairs in the UK. Collectors and dealers from throughout the UK visit the Fair. Due to the Fair’s outstanding reputation, there are considerable waiting lists for stands and as such, most of the exhibitors are regulars. Both the highest standards and immense diversity can be found at the Fair. The most popular of the disciplines on offer at Petersfield is jewellery, with four or five jewellers displaying their wares. The June Petersfield Fair is seeing a revival, with its last exhibition occurring in 2003. The June Fair also gives collectors a chance to purchase items at reduced prices, before the rush of London Fairs in June. Dealers and collectors, old and new, are welcome to attend the Petersfield Fairs.

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="350" caption="Dusan Rajsic, Dancers, Mixed media"][/caption] Open Daily Tuesday 19th April open 10am - 9pm Wednesday 20th April open 10am - 9pm Thursday 21st April open 10am - 6pm Royal Academy of Arts Burlington House, Piccadilly London, W1J 0BD Chairman, Gordon Cooke, who is also a Director of The Fine Arts Society of London, established the Fair in 1985. He specialises in Modern British Prints. Since 1987, Helen Rosslyn has organised the Fair as its Director. As in previous years, all eras of printmaking will be represented at the Fair, ranging from the earliest woodcuts of Dürer and other notable contemporaries to the modern graphic prints of Hockney and Hirst. Work on sale range from £100 to over £100 000. As part of the Fair, there will be a Printmaking Lecture. This year’s lecture, entitled “Talking Turk”, will be presented by artist Gavin Turk and art critic Louisa Buck in the John Madejski Fine Rooms, Royal Academy of Arts, on Tuesday, 19th April. Turk’s work has contained within it the themes of democracy and authorship in art and his presentation will be concerned with the methods of printmaking and its importance in his work. A new print will also be released especially for the Fair. Also included in this year’s programme are other talks, demonstrations and children’s workshops. The London Original Print Fair has been touted as “…by far the best place to buy prints…” by Richard Dorment of the Daily Telegraph Review. Mark your calendar for this special event!

SUMMARY:Art London at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea
DESCRIPTION:Two-for-one entry on presentation of an Art Fund membership card From as early as its inception in 1999, Art London has had the mission to combine “serious” art with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere: something that is not that common in the art world. [caption id="attachment_3771" align="alignleft" width="222" caption="Branko Dimitrijevic, City Rush, Oil on canvas"][/caption] Art London 2010 is thrilled to be able to welcome a new group of participants from the US, Hong Kong and Ireland, in conjunction with returning exhibitors from such distant shores as Argentina and Australia. In 2010, there will be on display many works by major modern British and 20th century artists: some of these are Elisabeth Frink, Paul Nash, John Piper, Edward Seago and Graham Sutherland. Opening Times 7th – 11th October, 2010 Thursday, Sunday & Monday 11am-8.30pm Friday, Saturday 11am-8pm Royal Hospital, Chelsea London Gate, Royal Hospital Road, SW3 4SR Art London has always had a cosmopolitan theme, with 2010 continuing this theme. Art from all corners of the globe can be found. This includes both the “themed” shows exhibiting the works of a number of talented artists as well as “solo” exhibitions. Whatever the focus, visitors to Art London can be assured that they will not be subjected to an overload of the senses, which is typical of other events. One feature of Art London which contributes to its unique character is the educational Special Exhibition. This year, the leaders of the council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea have graciously loaned exhibits from the Leighton House museum. As well as this Special Exhibition, dedicated to Frederic, Lord Leighton, Art London will also feature an outdoor Sculpture Garden which has, as a rustic rural backdrop, the grounds of the Royal Hospital. The Sculpture Garden will showcase works from a small select group of sculptors: namely, Marzia Colonna, Bruce Denny, Philip Jackson, Gill Parker and Shan Shan Sheng. Recommended by many art critics from numerous publications, Art London is a must visit event! Two-for-one entry on presentation of an Art Fund membership card. SUMMARY:Pinta London 2010 - The Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art Show
DESCRIPTION:[caption id="attachment_5135" align="alignleft" width="208" caption="Tamara Jovandic Everson, Nude III, Mixed media on paper"][/caption] Receive information on other London events this summer and enjoy complimentary tickets and VIP invitations to many of the top exhibitions available to our members. Since its inception in New York in 2007, PINTA has become a most important event on the Modern and Contemporary Art calendar. The organisers have made it their mission to expand the exposure of Latin American Modern and Contemporary Art via the participation of prominent galleries, curatorial projects featuring guest artists and dialogue programmes. With this in mind, the London season of PINTA, to be held from 3rd to 6th June, 2010, promises to be a very successful event. Approximately fifty galleries of the highest quality are expected to participate. Included in this eminent list are White Cube and Haunch of Venison. Private view Thursday 3 June: 6pm-9pm Opening Times Friday 4 June - Saturday 5 June: 11am-8pm Sunday 6 June: 11am-6pm Earls Court Exhibition Centre London (England) SW5 9TA Visitors will also be treated to a programme featuring tributes to the pioneer artists Carmen Herrera and Carlos Cruz-Diez, together with a variety of art projects and solo shows; a series of dialogues will also be presented in which the position of Latin American Art within London’s institutions will be explored. Expectation can be measured by PINTA’s influence in the acquisition of Latin American artworks by such leading institutions as Tate Modern; the University of Essex Collection of Latin American Art; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid; Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, (MACBA) and the Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art, (MIMA), England. As in previous years, there will be in 2010 the opportunity throughout PINTA for those museums dedicated to Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art to acquire new artworks. This has been made possible as a result of a matching funds programme, where up to the present day, PINTA has donated $250,000, to be matched by participating museums and used to purchase Latin American artworks exhibited at the Fair. SUMMARY:Royal Academy of Arts - Summer Exhibition 2010
DESCRIPTION:[caption id="attachment_4295" align="alignleft" width="204" caption="Tamara Jovandic Everson, Meditation, Charcoal pencil and acrylic on canvas"][/caption] Receive information on many other art events in London this summer and become our member to enjoy complimentary tickets to many prestigious art events across the UK all year around. The Royal Academy's annual Summer Exhibition is the world’s largest open submission contemporary art exhibition. With the first exhibition held in 1769, it is also probably one of the oldest! The Exhibition is now in its 242nd year and is continuing the tradition of showcasing the work of emerging talent and established artists alike. All media is represented, including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, architecture and film. This year’s theme is “Raw” and works will be selected by the co-ordinators, Stephen Chambers and David Chipperfield, along this theme. A large number of entrants have once again submitted works this year: over 11,000! As with previous years, most of these works will be for sale: what a brilliant opportunity for visitors to invest in original artwork by both well established and beginning artists! Traditionally, the exhibition has featured the work of Academicians and Honorary Academicians: this year is no exception to this rule. Artists including Antoni Tapies, Ed Ruscha, Michael Craig-Martin, Gillian Ayres and Tracey Emin will be exhibiting new work. The space this year for the Architecture Gallery is the large Lecture Room, with the exhibits curated and organised by David Chipperfield. There will also be an “invited” room, curated by Fiona Rae, where the latest work of artists such as Nicola Tyson, Gary Webb, Martin Maloney, Nigel Cooke and Richard Patterson will be on display. As a result of last year’s successful BBC TWO Series Culture Show special on the Summer Exhibition, the Royal Academy of Arts is delighted to be working with the BBC once more. In honour of Academicians who have passed away during the last twelve months, a selection of their work will also be on display in the Fine Rooms as an extension to the Main Galleries. These artists are Craigie Aitchison RA, Jim Cadbury-Brown RA, John Craxton RA, Barry Flanagan RA, Freddie Gore RA, Donald Hamilton Fraser RA, Flavia Irwin RA and Michael Kidner RA. As an adjunct to the Exhibition, in 2010, the Royal Academy of Arts have also organised a programme of special events, evening lectures and gallery talks which are as diverse as the artists themselves. Children aged from 8-13 will receive a free printed guide sheet to the exhibition, whilst younger visitors will be given an activity tray which includes art materials: just the thing to create their own artworks! The Summer Exhibition 2010 is open to the public from Monday, 14th June through to Sunday, 22nd August. On Fridays, the Exhibition is open later (until 10.00pm, with last admission at 9.30pm): on all other days, the hours are 10.00 am – 6.00pm. SUMMARY:Monotypes by Stojan Djuric at the Belgrade Fortress Gallery
DESCRIPTION:[caption id="attachment_4888" align="alignleft" width="205" caption="Stojan Djuric, Noname, Monotype"][/caption] The exhibition of monotypes by Stojan Djuric is opened from Friday May 14 until June 4, 2010 at the Gallery of Belgrade Fortress. The gallery is open every day in between 11:00 and 7pm. The artistic expression of Stojan Djuric was formed in the context of the Belgrade traditionalist art movement, characterized by an affinity for the intimate, the sophisticated and the poetic, but also by the artist’s awareness of the right to delete the boundaries between what is personal and what is common, what is original and what is borrowed. In the pieces featured in this exhibition, the author chose the subject of a female nude, obtained in the technique of monotyping, in a language that is absolutely pure and reduced. It is clear that a female body is the artist’s everlasting theme. Through the spontaneity of playing and enjoying the creation, the author has preserved the fascination of the view and the immediate joy of storytelling. There is some fine irony in there, the humour infused with life and with the modern man’s position towards the hyper-production of erotic imagery in contemporary mass-media culture. Natalija Cerovic, article for the catalogue Born in Velika Plana in 1962, Stojan Djuric graduated from the Fine Arts Academy, in the class of prof. Momcilo Antonovic, where he completed his post-graduate studies as well. He is a member of Association of Fine Artists of Serbia. He lives and works in Belgrade and in Velika Plana. Djuric has had 43 individual exhibitions and over 200 group exhibitions in Serbia and abroad. He has won many prizes and awards and has participated in numerous art colonies. His work can be found in many private and public collections in Serbia and abroad. SUMMARY:Nine Women Artists exhibition at the Dissenters’ Gallery London
DESCRIPTION:[caption id="attachment_4228" align="alignleft" width="169" caption="Sonya Radan, Olven, Mixed media"][/caption] Private View Invitation for our Members Become our member to receive exclusive private preview invitations, free and 2for1 tickets to the art fairs across the UK. Grave Days Indeed celebrates the unique talents of nine women artists living and working in London. This exhibition of paintings, prints, drawings, mixed media and photography is an exciting opportunity for all involved to come together and share their creative process through their chosen media. Two of our artists will have their work on display - Tamara Jovandic Everson and Sonya Radan. [caption id="attachment_4215" align="alignright" width="197" caption="Tamara Jovandic Everson, Eva, Mixed media"][/caption] Sonya Radan work is figurative and intimate, she paints familiar subjects that are deeply personal and individual. The intimacy of her work is such that the viewer is simply forced to become emotionally involved. Sonya is intrigued with the souls of her subjects, locked away behind their puzzling smiles, feeling, touches and mysterious glances. She experiments with wide range of textures and different media including oils, silks and glass. Nude paintings by Tamara Jovandic Everson are provocative, dramatic and explosive. In engaging the viewers, they act as a mirror and show how life can be lonely and cruel, as well as beautiful. With her work she explores the mysteries of existence, while searching for the original and essential, which is often hidden behind surface and illusion. In her work Tamara is mixing traditional techniques such as charcoal, pastel, oil, and acrylic paints. Other women artists exhibiting are Rachel Alston, Fiona Campbell, Nicola Cucic, Larisa Dizdar, Julie George, Dee Leyden and Sophie Redpath. This Institute was founded in 1860 and is active in the promotion of contemporary art works by Scottish artists. The Fair is the ideal place in Scotland to purchase, sell or simply view art, whether you are an avid collector, a casual purveyor, or just interested in art. Art works can be purchased for as little as £50, whilst others attract prices in excess of £70,000. SUMMARY:Exhibition of African masks and Figurines
DESCRIPTION:Chelsea Old Town Hall – reference Library Receive updates on similar events in the future and get FREE and discounted tickets for top art exhibitions in London and across UK. This exhibition open to the public is featuring traditional African art work. The work on display includes such articles as masks, figurines and small objects and has been crafted by unknown artists located throughout the continent and who represent a number of different cultural groups. The display is contrived so as to place together objects that symbolise some of the different aspects of tribal life and culture, such as the relevance of daily routine and ritual: these objects, however, do not have any commercial value. The aspects represented are: ancestors, fertility, marriage, warriors and nature. Included in the exhibition is a presentation by the curator, who will discuss the art of Africa and how it is intertwined with tribal life. There will also be a discussion regarding the art and some story telling aimed at both children and adults. Visitors can enter the exhibition free of charge. People often relate African art with the Black History Month, and they are more familiar with music and dance, literature and performing art, but not so much with visual and plastic art. There is also an ages old stigma about this art, a prejudice which is inherited from the past, that masks and fetishes present evil spirits and will do harm to those who posses them. We shall organise a talk and a discussion about the meaning of the masks and figurines which present always something in relation with everyday life. The inspiration is life itself and surrounding environment, which includes all natural habitats, animals and plants. These features are “magical” because they are used to intervene with “higher powers”, communicate with the world of spirits, help people to pray and ask for help, support healing, war and peace and they mean life and death. Every bead, feather or other item used to create a mask or a figure is carefully chosen and it symbolises particular aspect in the life of tribe. The fact is that three quarters of the population of Black Africa are still fetishist and continue to practice this religion. Most of the ritual sculptures used are masks, which appear during the religious dances and public celebrations. There are also figurines and larger statues (totems) which, according to the region, represent ancestral portraits, or fetishes to protect the village and its inhabitants, to conjure against evil spirits, against drought and epidemics, to bring fertility to women or evil and harm to enemies, such as the nail fetishes from the Bas Congo areas and similar. Nature is embedded in many human forms as totemic presentation of the particular characteristic which the tribal artist believes that it belongs to that particular mask or figurine. This Collection belongs to the New World International charity organisation; curators are Vesna Petkovic and Dante Montagnani. Indeed, the 2009 Fair was a major event in London's Russian community's social calendar and included a Charity Gala Evening in aid of The Children’s Burn's Trust. The event was attended by Their Highnesses Prince and Princess Dimitri Lobanov Rostovsky and other high profile members of the London Russian community, celebrity clientele, VIPs and invited guests. Together with the Ritz Club VIP dinner, the Fair raised approximately £15,000 for the CBT and there were some substantial six-figure sales. Gallery representatives from countries as distant as Russia, Europe, the Middle East, Far East and the United States travel to this premier event. As a new addition for 2010, the Fair has expanded its horizons to also include Eastern Art, primarily from the area formerly known as Persia. This is in answer to the increasing demands for art from this region. As well, the Art Fair will also showcase dealers who specialise in fine Oriental and Indian art and antiquities. Until now, there has not been an event in the UK that caters for this market, despite the fact that hundreds of people wishing to purchase such art attend the London Russian, Indian and Oriental sales. The Russian Art Fair organisers, in conjunction with their partners the Ritz Club Casino, The St Petersburg Ball, The Russian Summer Ball, as well as major media partners and other fair organisers, are dedicated to attracting the highest quality clientele. The timing coincides with the large additional influx of art buyers into London for the Russian sales at Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Bonhams and MacDougall’s, which will occur during the same week. The Charity Gala Evening will once more raise much needed funds to assist in the rehabilitation of children with severe burns. SUMMARY:East End Arts Club - Tate the Biscuit, London
DESCRIPTION:Private View Invite, Shoreditch Town Hall [caption id="attachment_3019" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Janos Mesaros, Triptych, Oil on canvas"][/caption] Another extraordinary event curated by Helen Edwards and Infinity Bunce in conjunction with East End Arts Club - a blockbuster Christmas show by street artists, fine artists and illustrators, interpreting proverbs and phrases. “When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion” - an Ethiopian Proverb. Well ‘Tate the Biscuit’, has the making of a roaring success. This exhibition is displaying a huge collection of street artists, conceptual artists, installation artists, painters, graphic illustrators and photographers, who all come together under the roof of Shoreditch Town Hall to create work interpretation proverbs and phrases in their titles/work. The juxtaposed artwork covers more than 15,000 sq feet, where viewers can meander into room after another of art. Even the walls breathe an essence of their own creative making. One minute you are in a room full of glowing polystyrene pods – the aliens have landed in Shoreditch! Next you could skip to divert into a room full of installation petals. Then breathe next to an Abstract painting propped up with shades of black. Or take yourself to a splash of colour to view a huge selection of street and urban art, and then ponder at the life size sculpture of a seven year old boy made with green fiberglass. Poking from the corner of one of the rooms you can see a strange doll with many arms. Turn a corner and you can see paintings of dripped images of famous celebrities, whereas other painters in the show have used abstract colours on MDF, there is even a painting of a send up of the Tate Modern itself –East End style! Whoops! We missed a painted image of a monkey lounging on a sofa. In this show there is a huge display of a contemporary urban painting range which show chases the best of what is present today. You can also view a huge selection of prints such as a Panda in a bar, a Muslim bride, –from the banal and everyday to high fashion. This show is an extraordinary roundabout which has many roads that lead you into an ‘Aesthetic Urban Vision’, the journey can’t be missed! SUMMARY:Watercolor Landscape by Dusan Djukaric
DESCRIPTION:"Light in Watercolour" an exhibition of paintings by Dusan Djukaric, Belgrade Historically, watercolours have received honours from all corners of the globe. The Chinese considered it as the most valuable and most difficult technique and treated both it and those who had mastered it with a deep respect. The paper used by the Chinese for watercolours is called CHEN XIN DENG, which translates to ‘entrance for clearing the mind’. And, indeed, it is really a kind of cleaning of the mind and the soul. [mc id="3171" type="video" width="514" height="360" autostart onlyonce]Watercolor Landscape by Dusan Djukaric[/mc] Geographical landscapes often mimic and help to form the landscape of the soul and this is confirmed by the refined watercolours of Dusan Djukaric. His landscapes invoke a deep and sincere empathy. He is devoted to beauty and ceremonial illumination, and manages to maintain the power of pure sight in a demonic world. There is nothing impulsive or dramatic in his work, only a reserved lyricism and the expression of a calm, intimate temperament. The landscape in Djukaric’s paintings is seemingly dematerialised by gentle blues and fluid colours. He demonstrated the ability to ennoble this conventional subject with the spirit of lyrical refinement and finesse. The fluidity of atmosphere and the shimmering mobility of water are expressed in Djukaric’s watercolours. Djukaric took inspiration from the impressionists in his expression of the importance of light and reflection in his work. Through the silvery-blue and pearly tones, mixed in with autumn ochres, the artist speaks of the refined vision of an enlightened world and the pleasure of life. Djukaric manages to transfer emotion and meditative warmth onto a landscape, intriguing the observer and instilling them with a sensitive spiritual and soul structure. Thereby the close intimacy of Djukaric’s work is shared with its audience. Enjoy this video featuring Djukaric's watercolour paintings from his latest exhibition in Belgrade, 26th October - 5th November, 2009. SUMMARY:Landmark Arts Centre, Autumn Art Fair 2009
DESCRIPTION:Exclusive to Our Members - Invitation to the Private View on 16th October and 2 for 1 ticket offer over the weekend 17th and 18th October [caption id="attachment_2798" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Landmark Arts Centre"][/caption] Housed in the magnificent gothic surroundings of the Landmark Arts Centre at Teddington Lock, the Midsummer and Autumn Landmark Art Fairs have established themselves as major events in the visual arts calendar. A 19th century Grade II* listed building, the Centre was a former church, which is now preserved for the benefit of the whole community. This unique setting and consistently high visitor numbers help to make the fairs enjoyable and profitable for the artists and makers that it continues to attract from the very highest end of the art market. At this year’s Autumn Art Fair, taking place on Saturday 17th October - Sunday 18th October, from 10.00am - 5.00pm, visitors will find a huge variety of fine art based work, painting, sculpture, graphics, print and illustration, as well as a good selection of ceramics, jewellery and textiles. This Fair focuses on the artists themselves, who will be selling their own work as apposed to selling it via a gallery representative. This not only gives buyers the chance to talk to the artists in person, but guarantees they get a better deal on the work as they are not charging commission. Unlike other fairs that have only galleries and other commercial enterprises as exhibitors, the Landmark Arts Centre strives to showcase individual artists and crafts people, including recent graduates and new talent. For further information on the Midsummer & Autumn Art Fairs contact Ben Kidger, Art Fairs Curator at the Landmark Arts Centre. In January 2010 the Landmark Arts Centre will be opening its own Art Gallery to the public, providing visitors with an opportunity to see visual art at the Landmark Centre throughout the year, rather than the short time they are on display at the Arts Fairs. With this development and its ongoing activities the Landmark continues to be at the forefront of creative events in the area and is gathering in reputation. As an independent charity, the Landmark Arts Centre is grateful to its highly valued trustees, members, volunteers and visitors whose contribution ensures the continuing development of the Centre for the whole community. The Centre does not receive any statutory funding towards its core operating costs and relies heavily on kind donations from benefactors. To find out how you can support the Centre please contact the Arts Centre Manager. Become a FREE member and take advantage of 2 for 1 ticket offer for the Landmark Art Fair. SUMMARY:Serbian Art Exhibition in Belgrade, Stojan Milanov
DESCRIPTION:"Urban Records," an exhibition of paintings by Stojan Milanov, Singidunum Gallery, Belgrade, Serbia Artist Stojan Milanov will hold an exhibition from July 28 to August 14, 2009 in Belgrade. The artist will present several dozen paintings in the oil on canvas technique. Along with the exhibition inside the gallery, Milanov will set up a stand and canvas in front, where he will paint and urge passers-by to paint something themselves. [mc id="2763" type="video" width="514" height="360" autostart onlyonce]Stojan Milanov Serbian Artist[/mc] Paintings from the artist’s most recent collection “Urban Records” will be presented at the exhibition, which you can also see exclusively in our online gallery. In talks with the artist, we learned something more about his inspiration and motivation in this series of paintings. In the paintings that feature a female figure, there is an interesting contrast shown between the greys of the everyday city life - city sights, buildings, trams, cars, and the appearances of fine, airy and ethereal ladies that come from nowhere – from another world – but they are somehow found in the midst of this everyday greyness. Through these paintings, the artist shows that in the everyday greyness there are moments of light, and they radiate with positive energy through these beautiful women. In other paintings from this collection – mostly of regular city scenes showing street cleaners, pedestrians and drifters – the artist is able to turn a seemingly trivial motif into an artistically rich scene by using colours and composition to get the maximum effect out of these scenes. Milanov’s work, which is based in realism, is created through abstract deposits of colour, rough brush and palette strokes, and an analysis of parts of the painting that can be turned into abstraction on their own. In these works, completed in one effort without much strain, we are witnesses to spontaneity, intuitiveness, internal force, and exceptional technique. The paintings breathe not only talent but talent within talent. There is much to be said about the techniques and paintings of this artist, but we leave it to you, the appreciators of art, to finish the story while enjoying these beautiful pieces of art.
